Rapid Heart Beat in Pregnancy
A lot of first time to-be parents experience irregular heart
beats during pregnancy. Rapid heart beat in
pregnancy, or maternal heart palpitations as called,
is the feeling of irregular heart beat, or sudden race in beat
during pregnancy.
In most cases, this is normal as a pregnant woman
experiences increased blood volume by 40 to 50 percent, which
is at it speak at 28 to 32 weeks.
In fact, a pregnant woman’s heart pumps amount of blood that
increases each minute by 30 to 50 percent in order to nourish
the baby insider her. Also, a pregnant woman is under the
influence of progesterone. These two causes the heart to beat
irregularly.
This means that increase heart beat rate is to be expected
during pregnancy. Also, the heart rate, and amount of blood
being pumped goes back to normal after giving birth.
Pregnancy, until a woman gives birth, stresses her heart.
That is why abnormalities in heart rate during pregnancy are
not supposed to worry you. However, if the pregnant woman has
heart conditions, the stress to her heart may be too much that
it is advised that she get a regular checkup with her OB and
cardiologist.
As mentioned, this is normal in most cases. However, it is
highly recommended that you visit a doctor once you experience
pains, nausea, or other disturbing symptoms when having
palpitations or sudden increase in heart rate. Also, never take
medications without your doctor’s approval. Never ever forget
that during pregnancy, you are not only supposed to look after
yourself alone.
